I was recently afforded the opportunity to build with the mastermind behind the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, the RZA.
Arguably the greatest hip-hop family of all time, the Wu-Tang Clan carried a science within their music—a science of family, high intelligence, brotherhood, and group economics rooted in the teachings of the 5% Nation. For many, Wu-Tang wasn't just entertainment; it was a journey through the mind, a spark that led to the knowledge of self.
He invited me to a studio in the city on the Wisdom Equality day (November 26, 2025) to build with the Abbot himself. We built on his personal history, getting the knowledge from his cousin the GZA, and his connection to our big brother Freedom (Popa Wu), and the burden of vision that comes with leading a clan, or group of families.
In this build, we explore:
RZA's introduction to the Supreme Mathematics at the age of 11.
The influence of Freedom Allah.
The balance between street reality and 5% teachings in Wu-Tang’s music.
Navigating criticism, the concept of "living the mathematics," and the application of knowledge.
His pilgrimage to Mecca, the meaning of the Shahada, and the distinction between the science of Islam and the religion of Islam.
The weight of leadership, the evolution of the Clan, and the power of "we" over "Me."
His evolution as a producer, from the classic Wu-Tang sound to his journey into film scores and music theory.
