The NC Credentialed Public Health Nurse (NCCPHN) Program is designed to provide NC public
health nurses with ongoing access to up-to-date specialty practice information.

The need for the NCCPHN Program was established as a result of mixed methods design multi-year research carried out via an ongoing collaboration between the Office of the Chief Public Health Nurse, state and local PHNs, and DNP students from the UNC Greensboro School of Nursing.

The NCCPHN Program is the first of its kind in the nation, and was built through a partnership between the Office of the Chief Public Health Nurse, state and local PHNs, the NC Institute for Public Health of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and the NC AHEC Program under the leadership of the Chief Public Health Nurse Dr. Susan Haynes Little.
