Q Criterion & Surface LIC: ParaView mini tutorial

Описание к видео Q Criterion & Surface LIC: ParaView mini tutorial

** please note that you must have the surfaceLIC plug-in, for more details read: https://www.paraview.org/Wiki/ParaVie... **

Quick tutorial demonstrating how to calculate the Q criterion and create a surface LIC plot in ParaView. Along with the Q criterion I compute gradients, divergence, and vorticity.

In short, "the Q criterion defines vortices as areas where the vorticity magnitude is greater than the magnitude of the rate of strain." For more information on what the q criterion is I recommend the paper: An objective definition of a vortex by G. HALLER (http://www.georgehaller.com/reprints/....

SurfaceLIC or Line Integral Convolution: https://www.paraview.org/Wiki/ParaVie...

For this tutorial I am assuming you already have some results from a cfd (OpenFOAM, ..) or other FEA/FEM simulation and are looking to post process the results. In my case I have the pitzDaily results from the compressible solver; rhoPimpleFoam using an LES turbulence model.

Hope you enjoy!
