I gave this WOW Bite talk at the Royal Festival Hall in March 2012. Illustrated beautifully by singer Alison Frosdick, it is a brief history of traditional British work songs sung by women. It is by no means exhaustive, and is part of ongoing research into women's work songs, the gendering of work and women's physical labour.
