The Aligarh Police have uncovered a plot in which three Hindu youths, aided by one Muslim accomplice, attempted to incite communal tension by writing “I Love Muhammad” on temple walls in Bulakgarhi and Bhagwanpur villages under the Lodha police station area, Clarion India reported. The act, carried out on October 25, targeted four temples and was intended to falsely implicate the local Muslim community in desecration.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Neeraj Jadon, the scheme was motivated by longstanding personal disputes. The accused — Abhishek, Akash, Dilip, and Zeeshan — allegedly sought revenge against fellow villagers while framing innocent Muslims. Investigators relied on CCTV footage, call records, and linguistic clues to identify the culprits, who have now been arrested and charged under sections related to incitement of communal hatred and disturbing public peace.

Local reactions highlight the potential for escalation. Rashid Khan, a social worker, praised the police for averting unrest, while Muslim residents expressed relief at the revelation of the true perpetrators. Karni Sena, led by National Vice President Gyanendra Chauhan, staged protests demanding enhanced temple security and swift action against the accused.

Community leaders and academics warned that the case reflects a broader trend of attempts to frame Muslims in false communal incidents, deepening mistrust and fueling division. Authorities have intensified police patrols and instructed local peace committees to engage with both communities to maintain calm.

Advocate Farha Naaz emphasized that targeting a religious community for personal revenge is not only criminal but undermines India’s pluralistic fabric. The Aligarh incident underscores the fragility of communal harmony and the importance of truthful investigations in preventing violence.
