"Recently, one of the most important and, in my opinion, key events of the current Russian-Ukrainian war took place. Russian leader Putin rejected a very serious peace initiative from the West and announced that he had decided to continue the war against Ukraine and reject peace proposals”. Ukrainian military expert Ivan Yakovina said this.


But then Russian president proposed that the Kiev authorities resume the negotiations they interrupted in 2022 without any preconditions on May 15 in Istanbul. The peace settlement process must start with talks, which could ultimately yield “some kind of new truce and a new ceasefire,” Putin added. “We are set on serious negotiations with Ukraine. Their aim is to eliminate the root causes of the conflict and to achieve a long-term lasting peace for a historical perspective,” the president stressed. But in reality, Putin is interested in continuing the war.

“You know, I am sure that after some time we will all understand that it was this decision that became fatal for Putin, and thanks to this decision he lost the war, and, most likely, thanks to this decision he will lose his power," Ivan Yakovina confidently stated.

Expert said the following about the choice without a choice that the Russian dictator found himself in: " The essence of the ultimatum is this: do what we demand of you, otherwise it will be bad for you. Putin found himself in a situation where he had to choose "from two kinds of bad." The first kind is quite clear for Putin. From his point of view, if he succumbs to pressure from the West and fulfills the conditions of this ultimatum, then Russia is guaranteed to lose the war. The second "kind of bad" is, it seems, not so scary for Putin and even understandable, because there are some more sanctions that may not be introduced yet, some weapons that may or may not be delivered to Ukraine, so Putin, I think, chose the second. The second seemed less scary to him than the first."
After this, Ivan Yakovina spoke about the mood in the Russian army, announcing an important historical event: " Everyone is fed up with everything, everyone wants justice, everyone wants some kind of normal life, and therefore, if some regiments go to Moscow, then no one will stop these regiments. Everyone will support such a colonel, even if not with active actions, but definitely with inaction, because one way or another everyone will think: "Let it all end on its own, and then we'll figure it out." And this time, such a rebellion will not stop: it will be able to take power in the Russian Federation."
