Ok so BK used some wrong terminology early on, hopefully caught it all and fixed it. Pretty sure that is a Directional Gyro that BK is referring to as the Compass Card and later HSI. There are some differences between the three, but at this point BK has forgotten the details.

Looks like the NAV database for this approach is expired. The approach plate clearly does not match what the game has embedded. Think there are some 3rd party products that fix this, though BK hasn't researched them yet. This ILS into Carl Stefan Memorial Airport, Norfolk, NE is close enough that the chart still gives a good reference. YMMV.

This video is by no means perfect, but it gives a decent intro to using the Steam Gauge Cessna 172 and the included autopilot. This is BK's favorite aircraft configuration to date in XP-12.
