Alchemised and the Problem With Fanfiction-to-Novel Books
Alchemised has been everywhere on BookTube, and after finally reading it, I wanted to talk — honestly and spoiler-free — about why it didn’t work for me.
This isn’t a review, and it’s not a takedown. It’s a BookTube discussion about pacing, editing, worldbuilding, and the growing trend of fanfiction-to-novel publishing.
Alchemised has a strong concept, but for me the execution felt bloated, uneven, and weighed down by repetitive structure. In this video, I talk about why the book felt exhausting to read, how the romance overshadows the world and plot, and why it desperately needed a tighter edit.
If you enjoy long, conversational book discussions, honest reading experiences, and BookTube commentary without spoilers, this one’s for you.
