Special thanks to Pat Gough, from C.O.R.E Hamilton, (Ontario), for inspiring me and other youth, to think outside the box and actively pursue your dreams. Pat founded a grassroots program for highschool students, including dropouts, and young adults to work on projects of their choice, from music production, to making a documentary, to writing a book, to public speaking— whatever made their heart sing— and get highschool credits for it. C.O.R.E was instrumental in giving me a taste of freedom to develop and pursue my own passions; which I never got a chance to do in the standard education system. C.O.R.E, one of the most self-empowering programs for youth, was shut down due to efforts of the local public and Catholic school board after less than a couple years. It lost funding and now remains but a memory, and an amazing un-fulfilled program with beautiful potential. I hope to be a part of somehow re-building an organization like C.O.R.E from the ground up, in a way where it can be sustained; as it is undoubtedly part of the NECESSARY evolution of education for free-thinkers and creative individuals who want to CREATE, GROW and EMPOWER THEMSELVES rather than regurgitate.
