In this video, I take you through the process of making a traditional teabowl on the potter’s wheel - from throwing to trimming.

I’m working with 220g of black stoneware clay, rich in grog, which gives the surface a beautiful, tactile texture. The process starts with centering and opening the clay, pulling up the walls, and gently shaping the form for a natural, balanced look.

The next day, once the clay is leather-hard, I trim the foot, refine the proportions, and prepare the teabowl for its next stage - decoration with porcelain slip before firing.
