Yunnan province’s Shaxi Ancient Town was listed as a World Monuments Top 100 Endangered Site in 2001, and is arguably the most important trading post on Asia’s Tea Horse Road. Shaxi is full of genuine charm and authentic ancient architecture, but what sets it apart is its bustling Friday Market, the only remaining market on the Tea Horse Road.
