The Stages of Spiritual Training

7. The Seventh Stage

(Only God exists. No “self” can be found.)

When one enters the stage where practice happens
naturally rather than intentionally,
as mentioned earlier, whether meeting someone,
doing something, or seeing
the sun, moon, stars, cats, trees, leaves, ants,
or the wind, only thoughts of God arise.

Without any effort,
awareness is filled solely with God,
the mind is full of peace,
and whether alive or dying,
one loses interest in worldly affairs.

Sensations related to the physical body gradually
fall away on their own.

People often ask me every day
whether I feel lonely living alone in the mountains.

I do not watch television;
I look at the sky, birds, animals, or simply sit.
This state is extremely difficult to explain.

In any case,
I come to think of myself as though observing
another person, and consciousness gradually separates
more and more from the body.

Even without special practice,
when seeing a dog or a person,
I know their past and why they have come into this world
with that body.

Yet there is no intention to know,
no particular surprise.

Though clearly belonging to this world,
I gradually lose interest in all phenomena,
as if preparing to depart.

No matter who comes or what they say,
it feels meaningless and trivial,
and interest in people themselves fades.

At the same time,
I see God everywhere,
and my sense of self gradually disappears.

These words are painfully inadequate.

At my level, this is the only way I can express it.
