Go Beyond Travel with a Gap Year Program

Learn about the world by living in it on a gap year or semester with AMIGOS! Our gap students live with host families, take Spanish classes, intern with a local organization, go on group excursions, and have an adventure living abroad! Choose a semester or a full year to immerse yourself in a new country.

About Amigos de las Américas:
AMIGOS is a nonprofit organization that provides volunteer and Spanish language immersion programs in Latin America and the U.S. for young people ages 13-22. Volunteers get the opportunity to explore a new country or region, learn Spanish, make friends across borders, and have a positive impact. Each volunteer works on a community service project side by side with local peers and community partners. Our relationships with local and international organizations — built over 57 years — enable authentic engagement in communities across the region. Since our founding in 1965, more than 30,000 alumni have completed our programs with greater social awareness, stronger leadership skills, and passion to make meaningful change.
