Ford 302 Camshaft Removal

Upgrades to the Ford 302 Small Block! I’m putting in a new cam shaft, lifters, harmonic balancer, and timing chain. In this video I will be focusing on removing the camshaft to get my engine ready for the Edelbrock 2122 Camshaft!

To remove the old camshaft is actually pretty easy. There are a lot of steps, but nothing is too difficult.

1. Remove the front grill
2. Drain radiator
3. Remove the radiator
4. Set engine at 0° TDC
5. Remove manual fan
6. Remove throttle body
7. Remove coil and anything else on the intake manifold
8. Remove valve covers
9. Remove mechanical fuel pump
10. Remove fan belts
11. Remove the harmonic balancer    • How to fix engine vibration  
12. Remove water pump and timing chain cover
13. Line up the dots on the timing sprockets
14. Loosen the rocker arms and move them out of the way
15. Remove the distributor
16. Remove the intake
17. Remove the push rods
18. Remove the timing chain    • Ford 302 Timing Chain Replacement  
19. Remove the lifters
20. Remove the cam shaft retaining plate
21. Remove the camshaft
22. Install the new Camshaft:    • Ford 302 Camshaft Install  

The removal is the same on the Bronco, the F150, and the Mustang. All Ford engines around this era.
