Unfortunately, nothing substantial about Jack Stillman's dance orchestra was available for me in the web. Apparently it belonged to that group of great American dance bands of the late 1920s that, after having recorded several absolutely amazing albums, slid into the abyss of oblivion along with the whole era of women's bob haircut, mens' straw hats and automobiles with the external horns. We owe Mr. Edison the sound of those bands, saved for us on his discs, before he went bankrupt in 1929. Interestingly, Thomas A. Edison never was any kind of dance music fan, on the contrary he was a classical music lover. What he had done for the jazz's sake - in form of astonishingly long recordings with the highest sound quality - was inspired rather by commercial reasons... which hovever, had not saved his firm from the crash...
