Alan's side of the story has that nice Control-esque surrealism going on. It's not as scary but it's definitely the next step from Alan Wake 1. Though he's stuck in the Dark Place, we're starting to learn about his connection to the main story and how he's getting out. Saga, well we're gonna have to play her side too, and figure out what's happening with her, the town, and Alan after he escapes. This non-linear storytelling where one side is a "prequel" and the other is the "sequel" is really fascinating. I find Return to be scarier than Initiation because adding horror as a layer above reality is spookier than diving into a horror world that has a set of defined rules.
