Check out part 2 of my gameplay walkthrough featuring the indie game Zero Strain! This game released on the Xbox One on August 12th, 2020. It was developed/published by Eastasiasoft Limited.

In this video, I continue to gather enough power for the station to be able to craft the Nightblade Catalyst.

This game can be described as an old-school twitch arcade top-down shooter. It's very reminiscent of games like Geometry Wars and, I would like to think that it lives up to the expectations of those kinds of games. In Zero Strain you take control of an unnamed pilot who is hired by a woman named Aleira to becoming a Catalyst (they're flashy and futuristic looking space ships) pilot. Aleira is in desperate need of pilots after The End showed up a few days prior and damaged the space station she is in charge of. And so, it's up to the player to collect light echoes and bring Aleira's space station back to its former glory.

This game is very fast paced and, at times, frantic as it requires the player to constantly be aware of their surroundings and react with a quickness. There are various levels to go through and many different catalysts to try out. Each catalyst is very different in its aesthetics and in functionality. Every single one controls very differently and has different powers/weapons it can use. On top of that, each level is also different in its layout, enemies it includes and the obstacles that the player has to overcome. With this in mind, it becomes pretty clear early on that each Catalyst is best suited for certain levels. All in all, it ended up being a pretty cool game to play through, especially since it was a genre that I don't play all that often.
