Palliative National Film - 'Final Footprints My Culture My Kinship My Country'

David Rathman, AM PSM FIML – South Australian Elder, Eastern Aranda introduces 'Final Footprints: My Culture, My Kinship, My Country'. This video resource was developed through a collaboration between Palliative Care Australia and Palliative Care South Australia.

"Most Australians believe it’s important for loved ones to know about their end-of-life plans. But one in two Australians don’t want their wishes to be known.

The evidence makes it very clear that good quality, supportive care leads to better end-of-life, and also to better grief and mourning for those left behind.

Sadly, though, there are Australians who encounter difficulty in accessing the quality of palliative care that is right for them; and this includes our First Nations people.

Palliative Care Australia is the national peak body for palliative care and is committed to seeing improvements in this area.

In this video Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people share what “palliative care” means to them, and their communities.
