Star Wars figures were produced over a span of 8 years, and were made and sold in many different countries. Because of this a lot of toys display small differences.

The toy company Kenner acquired the rights to Star Wars. Action figures at the time were usually 12 inch's but as this would make the larger vehicles unfeasible they made the decision to shrink the scale to 3.75 inch's.

An estimated 300 million Star Wars figures were produced in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

In 1985 the final wave of figures, known as the Last 17, were packaged with a coin.
