The Visionary Orientalist Art of the Najd Collection

Experience 19th century daily life in North Africa, the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East through the legendary Najd Collection. One of the greatest collections of Orientalist paintings in existence, the cinematic canvases are precious records of the region’s history, as depicted by artists such as Jean-Léon Gérôme, Ludwig Deutsch, Gustav Bauernfeind and Osman Hamdy Bey. Sotheby’s will offer 40 works from the collection in a dedicated auction (22 October | London) and all 155 paintings in the collection will be on view in a never-before-seen exhibition from 11 – 15 October.
