We interviewed the founder and the promoter of “Healing Himalayas Foundation” Pradeep Sangwan, a visionary who holds mother nature in very high regards. He is on a mission to maintain cleanliness in the foothills of Himalayas.

Belonging to an Army background and having studied in Military School. Sangwan is an adventure enthusiast from the beginning. But the idea of Healing Himalayas took shape in his college days when he started going on different trekking routes to fulfil his sense of adventure. He started to notice all the litter on these tracks and was appalled by the fact that no concrete steps were in offing to tackle these menace. Then he came up with the idea of cleaning these beautiful mountains and founded the Healing Himalayas. His motto is to return these beautiful treks to their original self and to give the trekkers a clean and healthy path to trek on.

Our mission is to maintain the cleanliness in the foothills of Himalayas, to develop comprehensive and holistic waste management programs that helps to protect people, roaming animals, and the environment from toxic materials generated by plastic and general waste. We also create awareness of the need to take care for the environment surrounding Himalayas, from a health, civic, ecological, and spiritual perspective. To mobilize support from mountaineers, trekker, alpine clubs, adventure tour operators and Himalayan region governments, to protect the Himalayan environment, its flora and fauna and natural resources as well as protect the customs and interests of the local people. To unfold a code of conduct and ethics to be followed by all visitors to Himalayan region. To encourage mass clean up campaigns and promote healthy environmental practices in areas of the Himalayas that densely polluted. Lastly, as the name suggests we are not only healing Himalayas but alongside reducing global warming.
