2hoursDTM : Lo-Fi 2024/10/19

This is my 22th time participating in #深夜の2時間DTM ( a late-night 2hours DTM ).
The theme of this time is "observatories and elevations-inspired music".

Last time I wrote a song about the sky with a recorder, so the theme of this time was slightly overlapping with the previous one.
That's a common occurrence in late-night 2hours DTM :)

So this time, I decided to create a piece with a different image, not “the sky.
I decided to create an image of communication with the universe, which is higher than the sky.

I also decided to try the Lo-Fi genre, which I found during this period.
Lo-Fi is a genre in which high-frequency components are kept to a minimum and analog tape and record noises are added.

Lo-Fi songs tend to have a more relaxed tempo.
This time, I decided to make a song with a BPM of 80, whereas most of the previous my songs had a BPM of 120 or higher.

For the intro, I used the Reverse Synth from the "Pastoral Tones" below.
That tone is so vivid that it seems to turn back time.

The above sound source also includes the voices of children playing in the ground as sound effects, so I used those as well.
I feel that these elements also match the atmosphere of Lo-Fi.

The accompaniment is a repetition of G and A chords throughout,
The A melody is somewhat reminiscent of evening, and the illustration in the video is of a person looking up at the starry sky while swaying.
The main phrase has a half-beat rest at the beginning, which I think gives a unique groove to the slow tempo of the song.

I feel that working on the relaxed tempo of the song has helped me to tend not to speed up the BPM so much in my later works.
I also like Lo-Fi and will likely continue to work on Lo-Fi pieces in the future.
It might be a good idea to make a longer version of this song.
