Visualizations of the plethora of shock waves induced by expanding and collapsing cavitation bubbles, filmed at 10 million frames per second. The shock wave emission mechanism becomes complex as the bubble deforms upon collapse. A major part of the damaging or beneficial powers of cavitation (e.g. in hydraulic turbines or medical applications) are attributed to the emission of these shocks.
