Hog on the Spectrum Explained - Porkchop Firmware on Cardputer (Beginner Guide)


Hog on the Spectrum is a real-time Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer built into Porkchop firmware for the M5 Cardputer. Instead of listing Wi-Fi names, it shows raw radio frequency energy across 2.4 gigahertz Wi-Fi channels.

The numbers along the bottom represent Wi-Fi channels one through thirteen.
Each curved hill represents a Wi-Fi network. Taller hills mean stronger signals. Wider hills mean more interference or overlapping networks.
When hills overlap, that channel is crowded. When a channel looks flatter and quieter, it’s cleaner and usually performs better.

The scale on the left shows signal strength in dBm, from minus thirty, very strong, down to minus ninety, very weak.
This tool is useful for finding congestion, spotting hidden networks, and choosing the best Wi-Fi channel based on real RF activity.

• Use a USB-C data cable, not a charge-only cable
• Hog on the Spectrum shows signal energy, not Wi-Fi names
• Match channels and signal strength with a Wi-Fi scan to identify networks
