Can Hyaluronic Gel Shots Work To Help Heal Hip Arthritis?

Hyaluronic gel shots are sometimes used to help with hip arthritis. But does it really heal hip arthritis for the long-term... or is it just a short-term treatment?

These gel shots are infused with hyaluronic acid, a substance that is already present inside the fluid of the hip joint (called synovial fluid).

Viscosupplementation is another name for hyaluronic acid gel shots.

These are thought to add cushion within the hip joint, so at the superficial level it makes sense if you have a bone-on-bone hip arthritis situation. But there is very little research about these injections.
