Gangnam Rooftop City View at Sunrise - Seoul, Korea [Slow VR 8k 360° Video & Sound]

Описание к видео Gangnam Rooftop City View at Sunrise - Seoul, Korea [Slow VR 8k 360° Video & Sound]

Seoul has long been one of my favorite cities. It's the city I've visited most in terms of international travel, and I am almost always in a state of "missing" it.

Visiting during an ongoing pandemic was in many ways an encouraging experience. From the mandatory two-week quarantine to the near-perfect mask and social-distancing compliance, the city seemed to be taking the current public health crisis seriously, and that was a welcome change for me, after spending the summer in southern Europe.

But that seriousness also meant that this was the most "different" the city has felt since I first encountered it. Nights in particular were incredibly quiet compared to the Seoul I've enjoyed in the past, and I spent a lot of time -- hours upon hours -- walking completely empty streets and noting how many "24시" cafes, restaurants, etc now had darkened windows. Popular shopping areas that were once full of life and noise at all hours were now eerily silent ghost towns full of boarded-up storefronts and gutted interiors. It was sobering, and at times a bit bleak.

But then...the sun would rise. After my nights of wandering, I spent many mornings sitting on the roof of my building just outside of Gangnam Station, watching the sky turn its dusty color and listening to the streets below as the city lurched back to life -- not the same as it's been in the past, by any means -- but enough to let me know that the vibrant, bustling, exciting, sprawling, complicated Seoul I've known all these years is still there. It's just resting for a time.

Enjoy!
