All right, let me put you onto something that actually surprised me. This is the Uniden RTACH companion app. If you’ve ever used a radar detector, you know most apps are super limited, but this one lets you go from basic to full expert mode with far more customization than anything I’ve used before.
When you first open it, everything is simple, clean, and beginner-friendly. But if you want full control, hop into the settings because this is where it gets fun. In the basic settings, you can adjust the volume, brightness, and what’s displayed on the screen. In this case, I want the speed and the compass.
When you want expert mode, click the expert tab up top. There’s a full selection of advanced controls that let you fine-tune your filter frequency and customize each band’s volume, tone, and even its color. The companion app not only tells you the frequency and band, but it also informs you of any speed cameras, how far away they are, and what the speed limit is.
If there are no alerts, the app shows the altitude, battery, and the speed limit you’re driving at. What I like most is that it doesn’t force one setup on you. If you want something simple, you have it. If you want more control, you get that too. Whatever setup you want, you can make it happen with Uniden.
After using it for a bit, it genuinely changed the way I drive. I’m more alert, I don’t get false alerts all day, and it feels like the radar detector is working with me instead of yelling at me. It made my drive smoother and less annoying. So if you want a radar detector you can personalize instead of a one-size-fits-all device, the Uniden RTACH companion app is the way to go. It’s simple, customizable, and far more advanced than the rest.
