This is great advice if you Own or manage a business! When we owned Sonic Drive-Ins Across 4 States, I would always tell my managers they needed to be Best In the World!

And they would say Paul, You ask too much! But what I mean is you need to be the best in your world, and for us our world was any place to grab a bite to eat within about 15 minutes of one of our restaurants. That shrinks the world down to a more manageable goal! And if you're the best in YOUR world, you’re going to grow sales and profits! So how did we do it?

We would shop the competition, and instead of looking for what they are doing wrong… We look for what they are doing great! And if it’s better than how we are doing it, AWESOME! That means we have the opportunity to get better!

Then for the hard part… going back to our own restaurants and taking an honest look at how we are doing compared to the competition in our world. If we are not the Fastest, Cleanest, Friendliest, and best tasting restaurant in our world we have to fix that. The first step to solving a problem is identifying it. Then make a plan to improve, then take action!
