The PSS approach of teaching reading and writing to young children is an eclectic approach combining systematic teaching of sound-letter relationship with the language experience approach and reading of small books. This method is evolved by a linguist who also happened to be a loved teacher. The method is thus scientific and also appeals to the child's emotional life and interests. It has taught thousands of poor rural children to read and write over the last two decades and more through our outreach programme of Reading-Writing Improvement
