How to fix P0720 Code: Output Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction
A P0720 code is set when the computer (ECM/PCM) detects an interruption or slow response from the output shaft sensor (OSS).
Electronically-controlled automatic transmissions use an output shaft sensor (OSS) that can also sometimes act as the vehicle speed sensor in these situations.
The OSS is located at the end of the output shaft and directly before the drive axles to obtain measurements of the shaft’s speed.
Besides determining when to shift, it also torque converter engagement and the electronic pressure control (EPC) inside the transmission system.
Will usually get other codes such as P0722, P0731, P0732, and more since the transmission is not shifting correctly.

Possible Causes of a P0720 Code:
Low or Dirty Transmission Fluid
Bad output shaft speed sensor
Wiring (Open/Short)
Malfunctioning Computer (TCM/PCM)
