The tail is just over 3 miles round trip with over 1,200 feet of elevation gain and a final elevation of over 1,600 feet at the summit. This trailhead starts at the end of a cul de sac on Quiet Valley Ln in Poway California. Keep in mind you’re starting off in a residential area so be respectful to the residents. This trail is relatively flat in the beginning you crossover Sycamore Creek a few times which is dry most of the year unless there is a rain event. After the creek you gradually gain elevation for the first third of the trail. The hard part starts after the first third of the trail where you have a dirt and boulder climb and scramble that doesn’t let up. One of the main highlights of this hike is climbing through the slot canyon on your way to the final push to the top. Keep in mind that you have to get back down so take your time and watch your footing. This trail is lightly trafficked so you will definitely have peace on your way to the summit.
