Roads in Tasmania (84) Dec2023 - Walk at Cockle Creek- Southern Aurora- Massage tired feet

Today, after plenty of wildlife distractions, we head off on what promised to be a beautiful beachside walk. After only a short while however, we find the tide is against us and we have to turn inland to an overgrown track that becomes increasingly difficult to push through and it causes us to turn back.
We head in the other direction and extend our walk that way. Which proves to be really pretty and a different challenge for our legs in sand, under the weight of our packs.
We walk about 6kms for our training. But, as we plan a much bigger walk tomorrow, we decide not to push it too much. It prompts us to pull out the mechanical massager to help with aching muscles and especially Karen’s fused toes and feet.
Monique is hell bent on seeing the Southern Aurora so waits up until the early hours of the morning to catch the photos included. These have not been enhanced or photo shopped in anyway. She used her iPhone to capture these shots.
The Aurora is first seen in the camera before it reveals itself to the naked eye. So sometimes it’s just point and shoot and then look at your screen. That is what happened this time. She only saw a hint of a tinge on the horizon. You need to have no lights at all in order to photograph it this way. So get away from homes and town lights and lighthouses to do so.
