Production of secondary tillers from the main plants is considered indispensible for maximum wheat production in case of early planting of wheat preferably in the healthy soils. In this video, we have explained that excessive development of secondary tillers is harmful in some cases which may lead to reduction in yield. In case of late planting especially in the severely salt affected and very hard clayey soils, induction of secondary tillers may face such situation. In such conditions, primary tillers should be promoted through the use of higher seed rate. In addition to higher seed rate, stress may be induced with the help of phytotoxic herbicide, irrigation and fertilizer. Excessive use of fertilizers in late planted wheat may result into excessive infertile / useless tillers which have negative impact wheat production.
For better wheat production, 12 to 15 Lac spikes are thought to be complete. Wheat continues to form new tillers upto two months after its sowing date. Twenty percent to thirty percent tillers are considered infertile. This video is about the suggestions about how to increase fertile tillers. Tillering plays a vital role in better production of wheat. Tillering represents the growth and development of wheat crop. This year, weather is not cooling down and the temperature has not dropped to optimum required levels that is necessary for better tillering in wheat crop. Planting should be launched during the 1st week of November in these areas of extremely south Punjab. North Punjab is fully suited for October planting of wheat crop.
There is a relation between early sowing of wheat crop and the overall production. In most of the years, this myth is applicable as usual according to the data of previous several years. But in some of the years, it has also happened that mid and late grown crop had got higher yield and production rate. Early sown crop avails much of the time up till ripening so that it may become more productive in respect of yield. An early sown crop which will be given proper fertilizers like dap fertilizer (diammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate fertilizer), sop (sulphate of potash, sulphate of potash, potassium sulphate fertilizer, sulfate of potash fertilizer) and also the major quantity of urea, will be able to get record production rate if weather becomes favorable. Weather forecast also plays a vital role for growth and development of plants.
Tillers can be increased with the help of more fertilizers. But more tillers does not ensure the more yield. An optimum quantity of tillers is required in the presence of a balanced fertilizer plan. This is the key to successful wheat cultivation and getting more production. Production technology of wheat has made a compromised setting to produce maximum yield potential.
