This video shows what Pararescue specialists do during their careers. Applicants to this AFSC are expected to learn a lot about rescue, medicine, geography, navigation, survival, and aircraft operations. This is a competitive Air Force career to get into and requires significant physical fitness.

Training for AFSC 1T2X1 (Pararescue) is about 2 years in length and takes place in various locations across the United States.

Pararescue (AFSC 1T2X1) entry requirements:
US Citizen or Resident Alien
Must pass a medical examination
Norman color vision
ASVAB Score: 49 General
Must pass a physical examination
Extensive background check, including credit score
Must be between the ages of 17 and 42

Pararescue specialists are posted to specific locations in the Air Force across the United States.

This AFSC is also referred to as Pararescuemen and "PJs".
