Описание к видео Psycho-cybernetics: Chapter 8, Ingredients of the 'Success-Type' Personality and How to Acquire Them

This chapter is fundamentally significant because it provides the clear-cut goal or blueprint for the automatic Creative Mechanism (or Success Mechanism) to target.
Since humans are naturally goal-striving mechanisms, defining a clear target is the first prerequisite for effectively utilizing the inner machine to achieve success and peace of mind. Dr. Maltz emphasizes that success and failure are not accidental; they are carried as "seeds" within an individual's personality and character. By presenting a structured picture of the ideal "Success-type" personality, the chapter allows confused or unhappy individuals to "straighten themselves out" and acquire a new self-image. A successful personality is ultimately one that enables you to deal effectively with reality and gain satisfaction from reaching meaningful goals.

Key Points: The S-U-C-C-E-S-S Acronym

The ingredients of the "Success-Type" Personality are concisely encapsulated using the acronym S-U-C-C-E-S-S:

Sense of Direction (S): This is the most essential ingredient. You must have a worthwhile goal or "project" to work for and look forward to. An individual functions "somewhat like a bicycle" in that they maintain poise and equilibrium only as long as they are moving forward toward a specific destination. Without a clear goal, a person risks feeling "lost," "aimless," and purposeless.

Understanding (U): This requires actively seeking and acknowledging the truth or true facts about yourself, your problems, and your environment. It means being willing to admit mistakes, correcting them (using errors as negative feedback data), and moving forward without dwelling on the failure. This mindset values "what's right" over "who's right".

Courage (C): Courage is the willingness to act and take calculated risks, transforming goals and beliefs into reality. The act of moving forward—even in the wrong direction initially—is prioritized over standing still and losing balance. You never know the full extent of your resources until you choose to act and give them a chance to work.

Charity (C): Also termed Compassion, this involves developing a genuine appreciation and respect for others as unique individuals. Psychologically, feeling more charitable toward others leads directly to feeling more charitable and accepting toward oneself.

Esteem (E): This is the habit of maintaining a positive and realistic mental picture of your own self-worth, which is not egotism. You should stop making unfair comparisons of yourself against others’ standards. Recognizing one's own worth should be based on the truth that man is a creation of the universe, not on achievements or material goods.

Self-Confidence (S): Confidence is built by remembering past successes. To strengthen confidence, one must actively use errors and mistakes for learning, and then deliberately dismiss them from the mind, concentrating only on the successful outcome.

Self-Acceptance (S): This is the final step where an individual accepts their current self—flaws and strengths included. It is vital to differentiate between the "self" and the "behavior": You make mistakes, but mistakes do not make You. Self-acceptance releases existing abilities and facilitates creative potential.
