I call it the butterfly ghat of Karnataka.

It's untouched forests and pristine ecosystem attracts butterflies by the millions here. These butterflies get high on the alkaloids of the native plants here and also relish the nectar of the wild flowers that grow in this amazing ecosystem. Summers and monsoons are when their numbers are the highest.

This is the Bisle Ghat connecting the regions of Kodagu, Malnad and Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka. Comprising mainly of the Bisle state forest, it is flanked by Kaginahare forest to one side and the Pushpagiri wildlife sanctuary to the other and right in front of it is the Kumaraparvatha mountain. The Kumadhara river and its various tributaries flow through this forest.

During the monsoons, this narrow highway is home to umpteen waterfalls and a dense green cover. And its steep curves and hairpins make it a dream destination for a motorcycle or bicycle ride.
