Today I want to share a map style video showing you the Hudson Valley so you can get a better picture of where it is located and also learn a bit about some of the towns you might want to move to when relocating to the Hudson Valley.

Some of the things I want to talk about are:

Also another big question that people who aren't from around here ask is “how far is the Hudson Valley from NYC”?

The Hudson Valley starts north of NYC and the upper boroughs and stretches all the way up to Albany and the capital region. The Hudson Valley also features the counties directly on the east and west sides of the Hudson River. You’ll find CT on the far eastern edge of the Hudson Valley bordering counties like Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess County and the upper Hudson Valley area east of Albany reaches all the way over to Vermont. So the Hudson Valley covers a lot of territory from the boroughs all the way to Vermont!

One of the things that makes the Hudson Valley different than other suburban areas in the US is that although it’s close to NYC and the suburbs of Northern NJ, it has a more laid back vibe and is incredibly green with lots of hiking areas, beautiful mountains, streams and waterfalls and obviously the Hudson River runs right down the middle of it and there are some pretty cool lakes and state parks to visit when you are here.

The Hudson Valley is a beautiful region that is super green in the summer, gorgeous with all the leaves turning colors in the fall. It does get snow in the winter, but it’s nothing like being out in western NY or truly Upstate NY. The Hudson Valley isn’t technically Upstate NY even though some people mislabel it as such.

Upstate NY is generally considered further north and west of the Hudson Valley so don’t make the mistake of calling the HV area Upstate when talking with the locals!

The Catskills Region, the Adirondacks and Western New York are absolutely gorgeous and not far away, so if you live in the HV you can easily get to everything you want because you are more centrally located and can always catch a train or bus to NYC and get there within a couple of hours or faster depending upon where you live. One thing I love about being in Beacon is that there is an express train to and from NYC daily.
