The Yamaha Magicstomp, Getting Holdsworths Lead Sound, Delays and How to Connect/Update Firmware

Hey guys, an unusual video today. I bought another Magicstomp and thought it would be nice to put all this info together since I had to update it. In this description I linked where I hosted the important files I used. Also consider joining the Yamaha Magicstomp Collective facebook group for more files, drivers, info and how to get the Sound Editor to work on modern PCs (Windows 7/8/10).

In short, the Magicstomp combines the lead tones Allan used from Yamaha DG amps, and his delay settings from the UD stomp, which was modeled after his rackmount delays and he used those Yamaha sounds from as early as 1994 to 2017.

With this video, I put together as much info as I could. I give a VERY GENERAL overview of Allan's setup and gear and Yamaha projects from 1994 on. Also included some of the issues using the Magicstomp today, how cheap it is compared to other gear and why Allan used 6 of them. Finally I show how to update and change the firmware, using the Magicstomp sound editor, uploading patches from the UD stomp and how to edit patches directly from the stomp.

To update and use the Magicstomp, you need a few things.
- An older USB cable
- The UB99 Midi firmware
- A Yamaha Midi Sequencer (MIDI Radio)
- The Sound Editor program for the Magicstomp (which can only run on Windows XP. This part I can't help on)
