14U - Air Defense Artillery Branch

An important message to the force from CSM Giancarlo Macri, Air Defense Artillery School, about 14U and the future of the Air Defense Artillery Branch.

I am Command Sergeant Major Giancarlo Macri, the Command Sergeant Major of the Air Defense Branch. I wanted to update the force and provide some clarity on the 14U accessions initiative. As you may have heard, the Army is no longer assessing recruits into one of our five MOSs (14G, 14E, 14H, 14P, 14T). Instead, recruits will enlist as a 14U, an air and missile defender, and at week 6 of basic training, they will be assigned one of our five MOSs. The bonus and incentives for enlisting will be linked to 14U, so regardless of the MOS they are assigned, they will receive what was agreed upon in their enlistment contract.

The process of assigning an MOS to our future soldiers is done with collaboration between the Office of the Chief of Air Defense Artillery (OCADA), our branch managers at Human Resources Command, and our training BDE, the 30th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. The purpose of 14U is to give the branch flexibility in assigning future soldiers to the MOS the branch needs to fill the formations now and project what we'll need for future growth and missions.

Those of you currently serving in our branch need to know that you will receive a soldier who is trained in one of our MOSs, and it is our job to train and take care of them. Besides increasing the number of shortage MOSs in your unit, this program will not affect you.

Just know the Army and our branch are trying to find creative ways to make our formations healthy. The Commandant and I thank you for all you do for our branch, the Army, and our country. Please don’t hesitate to email me directly if you have any questions about the 14U accessions program.

First to Fire... Be all you can be... This we’ll defend.
