Perthes Disease is a condition that primarily affects children between the ages of 5 and 7, but can also occur between 4 and 8 years old.
It involves the death of bone tissue in the hip joint, leading to head deformity and limited range of motion.
The exact cause of Perthes Disease is unknown, but there are theories related to arterial blood flow and delayed bone development.
Diagnosis is based on physical examination, X-rays showing joint space widening and femoral head deformity, and ruling out other conditions.
Treatment options include observation, limiting weight bearing, physiotherapy, braces, and surgical interventions such as osteotomy or hip replacement, depending on the stage and severity of the disease.
