ISRAEL BOMBS SYRIAN MILITARY HQ IN DAMASCUS

In a major escalation, Israel just struck the Syrian defence ministry’s HQ in central Damascus - the heart of Assad’s former power base.

The move follows days of deadly clashes in southern Syria between Druze fighters and Bedouin militias, now tangled with regime forces.

Defense Minister Israel Katz:

“The [Israeli military] will continue to attack regime forces until they withdraw from the area... and will also soon raise the bar of responses against the regime if the message is not understood.”

This marks the first time Israel has hit the Syrian military command post directly since the fall of Assad last year.

Tel Aviv says it’s protecting the Druze.

Critics - including Turkey and Gulf states - say it’s exploiting Syria’s chaos to expand influence.

Damascus, under a fragile transitional government, had been in talks with Israel just days ago.

Now, it’s fire and fallout.
