Stakeholder mapping is a method for identifying, organizing, and understanding the role of individuals and groups within a system or community.  A stakeholder map visually illustrates the key relationships between people.  Visualizing who is involved in a system or community helps determine the individuals who should be involved when addressing a given challenge.  This method is particularly helpful when first beginning to tackle a topic or problem that you may not fully understand; you will likely need to determine who to talk to and who to involve in the process.  

All methods in this explainer series are appropriate for both educators and students.
