Hey it's Justin from CountryScape. We installed the exterior stonework and hardscaping at the new Corinthia base lodge at mount snow, Vermont.
At the front of the building you can see a wide permeable paver walkway we installed. Most of the surface water is directed to a subsurface drainage system here.
On the mountain side of the building there’s a large paver patio, stone walls, stone fireplace and outdoor bar. This entire patio is actually a roof structure over the first floor stores and shops. And all of the paver surfaces and steps you see are heated by a radiant snowmelt system underneath the pavers.
A cool feature on the patio is a triangular shaped gas fire place. The stone skins that make up the fire pit are sawn from big blocks of granite .
A blend of 3 different color Techo-Bloc victorien pavers give the patio it’s textured effect. And ribbons of large Blu Grande slab pavers can be seen running down portions of the patios.
The stone walls are made of Champlain stone Saratoga Granite. It’s a full bed veneer averaging 4” thick, and there are no exposed mortar joints, giving the look of a dry-stacked wall. All walls are capped with 4” thick bluestone with sawn edges and thermal tops.
Large blocks of Saratoga Granite can be found throughout the design as benches or wall accents.
CountryScape had crews of 8 to12 guys on site for around 10 months to complete the project.
