The poem does not describe a ritual one might perform, but one which millions of us already perform, each morning, unaware - till now! - of the God to whom the ritual rightly belongs. The poem's work is merely to make us conscious of the fact.

In celebrating Las Vegas, I celebrate not Vegas the tourist destination but Vegas the city where I and my fellow citizens live and work. And with it, all the cities where you, too, live and work.

The poem will be collected in "To the Goddesses and the Gods: Poems," which will become available by the end of November.
