A Tribute to Sitar Maestro Ravi Shankar - Anupama Bhagwat at IME

The current scenario has allowed the museum and art community to open it's doors but with limited possibilities. Although each of us would love nothing more than to watch a concert at the museum and experience the bliss of a live concert, we must be patient and pray for that time to come soon. However, the show must go on and so the the Sitar concert by Anupama Bhagwat will be showcased on the IME YouTube channel. This is a never before released concert and was part of the Ravi Naman event at the IME on the 21st of February 2021. This is an aim towards making the Performing Arts more accessible and also diseemination of high quality music to audiences, both young and old as well as audiences around the world who now can experience and appreciate Indian Classical Music.

Anupama Bhagwat, Sitar musician nonpareil, has carved a niche in Indian Classical Music with a versatile & eclectic style. Acclaimed world-wide with a repertoire of global performances since 1995, her sensitivity and erudition has taken her to the highest echelons of the modern genre, while remaining true to tradition. One of the leading disciples of the world-renowned Late Pandit Shri Bimalendu Mukherjee (Imdadkhani Gharana), Anupama has imbibed the vigor that is a hallmark of her Gharana: scintillating fast taans, mastery of the meditative alaap and brilliant fluency of melody (raag bhava), all the while maintaining her technical virtuosity.
