In late 2017, Ecocoast partnered with The Ocean Cleanup to design and manufacture the screen for its marine barrier system. The screen was shipped in July from our production facility in Umm Al Quwain to San Francisco, to be on time for the launch of the world's first ocean cleanup system, System 001.

The Ocean Cleanup has recently completed the assembly of System 001. On Saturday, September 8, 2018, the world’s first ocean cleanup system will be towed to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) to begin the cleanup. The Ocean Cleanup’s goal is to cut the GPGP by 50% in 5 years' time from full scale deployment.
