Piles and haemorrhoids are one and all the same. Piles are usually used by the common men, whereas haemorrhoids are scientific term. Piles are nothing but bunches of blood vessles arranged in 3 groups inside the anal canal. When they enlarge we call them as piles otherwise they are normal structures. If they are there inside we call them as internal piles. Similar structures outside we call them as external piles the treatment for piles usually in olden days we used to cut and remove off all that enlarged piles called as haemorrhoidectomy, which causes pain, bleeding, complications and all. There are multiple problems associated with haemorrhoidectomy whereas now with the advent of other sophisticated procedures, including lasers, those complications have been reduced and morning we do the surgery with lasers and then send back in the evening without much of preparation, post operative pain, bleeding and all are very minimal using lasers and if we add one more procedure with lasers called as Doppler guided haemorrhoidal arterial ligation, the results are much better and the recurrence rates are almost nil.
