In a disturbing incident, a 14-year-old student at East Point School in Vasundhra Enclave, Delhi, was assaulted by six classmates, who subjected him to a brutal attack involving a wooden stick.

The police have apprehended one of the suspects and presented him before the Juvenile Justice Board.

According to authorities, the assault occurred on March 18, stemming from a dispute that began on March 13 during a lunch break. The victim, standing up to disruptive behavior, was verbally targeted by a classmate over a sensitive family matter, leading to a physical altercation. Despite intervention from a teacher, tensions persisted.

On the day of the assault, the victim was lured to a secluded area of the school by the classmate's friend under false pretenses, where he was attacked by a group of boys. The victim was threatened into silence, with warnings of harm to his sister if he spoke out.

After experiencing prolonged stomach pain, the victim was hospitalized on March 28, where medical examinations revealed serious injuries requiring surgery. Subsequently, the nature of the assault came to light, prompting the mother to file a police complaint.

On April 6, concerned parents gathered at the school to demand answers, while police conducted inquiries and obtained CCTV footage of the incident. However, tensions escalated, leading to protests outside the school premises on April 8.

Authorities have initiated legal proceedings under relevant sections of the law, including the POCSO Act. However, concerns remain regarding the adequacy of the police response and the thoroughness of the investigation.

While the victim's family alleges police inaction and attempts to cover up the case, authorities maintain that investigations are ongoing. One suspect has been arrested and remanded to the Juvenile Justice Home.
