1 in 4 adults in the UK have metabolic syndrome.

This is huge.

In fact, when I set up a friends "lets get healthy" community I found that pretty much everyone had it.

Why is it important?

It's a big red warning sign that your metabolic markers for health are completely off including

Cholesterol, Blood pressure, Sugar and Weight.

One of these awry is bad, most or all of them is an impending health disaster.

Yep, this syndrome is a harbinger of all the diseases we worry about - heart disease, stroke, diabetes, dementia, cancer etc.

And the worse thing is, we as doctors, never tell people that they have metabolic syndrome - and I think it's because we never check abdominal circumference (waist circumference) which is one of the 5 markers that characterise the syndrome.
