The flooding followed exceptionally heavy thunderstorms that struck the region, causing water levels in the Tata River to surge to over 2,300 cubic meters per second, while the Zkid River reached 1,900 cubic meters per second.

The Directorate General of Meteorology has refuted claims that Morocco’s artificial rain program, which uses cloud seeding technology, was responsible for the recent deadly floods in the country’s south and southeast regions:

This statement comes after several reports suggested that the program, known as Al-Ghaith, contributed to the heavy rains and subsequent flooding.
